BETWEEN "THE CHURCHES" AND VALLEYS of the Ombrone (About 4 hours for Expert Riders).
Wake up early! We prepare the horses for this fascinating ride on the Senesi Hills!!
It starts going down towards the town of Buonconvento (medieval village whose first historical date back to 1191), where Henry VII died in 1313 after having conquered it.
From here via a country road the trail begins to rise into the rolling hills of Siena, passing the farms of "Bellagatta" and "Poggio ai Frati" until you cross one of the poorest of our country valleys: "Val di Stenti" with the house of the same name which has been recently renovated . From here you can admire the picturesque valley leading to the River Ombrone.
We go head towards the Farm "Pieve Sprenna" through a long avenue of pine trees on a ridge road where you can admire the Val D’Arbia on both sides and in front you see the village of Montalcino surrounded by the famous Brunello vineyards.
Then we head back, through small woods and vineyards, towards the Fattoria Pieve a Salti, with the Arbia river in the background where it is easy to see the beautiful herons fly.
We're back at Buonconvento ready to return but ...... a visit is recommended! We leave the horses in the location made available by the City and admire the old town enclosed in its walls built in 1379 by the governors of Siena.
